Laboratories with accreditation according to ISO/IEC 17025 (type STS)

Accreditation of medical laboratories only according to the ISO 15189 standard

With EA Resolution 2022 (52) of November 23, 2022, all medical laboratories have to be accredited according to ISO 15189 in the future.

The transition period for the transfer of medical laboratories accredited under ISO/IEC 17025:2017 (Swiss Testing Service STS) to the new standard ISO 15189:2022 (Swiss Medical Testing Service SMTS) is set at 5 years from the publication date of the above resolution. Consequently, the last day of validity of the previous standard ISO/IEC 17025:2017 for the accreditation of medical laboratories is November 23, 2027.

Laboratories with accreditation according to ISO 15189 (type SMTS)

Adaptation of medical laboratory accreditation to the new ISO 15189:2022 standard

The ISO - International Organisation for Standardisation - has revised ISO 15189:2012. The transition of medical laboratory accreditation to the new ISO 15189:2022 standard is subject to a three-year transition period.
